SAINT PETER — Following an experimental “Take Your Professor to Lunch” event, Student Senate unveiled a new program Wednesday in which students may invite a professor, administrator, or staff member to interact over a candlelit dinner. The meal, funded entirely by the student activity fee, will consist of salade niçoise with peppercorn-seared ahi tuna, vanilla bean crème brûlée, and one bottle of Chateau Ste-Michelle vintage 2012 Canoe Ridge Estate Syrah.
“We think this is a great way to promote healthy, intimate relationships between professors and students. We keep hearing from students that they want more ways to seek professors’ input on career goals, personal issues, and whether or not a dress makes their thighs look big” wrote Senate Co-President Bobby Rasmussen in an email announcing the event.
“We know our students love their faculty, and our faculty love our students.” said President Rebecca Bergman about the event. “It is excellent to see Student Senate enabling the community to celebrate that love, and to encourage that ongoing collaborative spirit with an array of fine cuisine and takeaway body chocolates.”
Pending a review of this event, Student Senate is also considering a “Take Your Professor to Couple’s Therapy” event.
